Wie was Elias Bass?
Geboren in 1886 in Zuid Afrika, Elias Bass diende voor de
10th Mounted Field Ambulance, ZSouth African Medical Corps
tot het werd ontmanteld.
Nadien ging hij naar Groot-Britannië waar hij zich voegde in de
2nd Battalion, King's Royal Rifle Corps in augustus 1915 als
lance corporal. Zijn eenheid werd ingezet in het Westfront,
aan zowel de Somme als ook aan de Ieperboog.
Tijdens de Slag om Passendale, werd Elias twee keer gewond
en kreeg de Ditinguished Conduct Medal voor dapperheid.7
Wanneer hij Second Lieutenant werd, werd hij overgeplaatst naar de Special Reserve of Officers in februari 1918. Maar door een gasaanval in september, werd hij ongeschikt voor militaire diensten.
Hij overleefde de oorlog en trouwde in 1941 met Jean Hazell. Wanneer hij overleed is onbekend.
Who was Elias Bass?

until the unit was disbanded.
Later, he went to Great Britain to join the
2nd Battalion, King's Royal Rifle Corps in August 1915 as
lance corporal. The unit saw action on the Western Front
at the Somme and later at Ypres.
During the Battle of Passchendaele, Elias have be wounded
twice and was decorated with the Distinguished Conduct Medal
for gallant conduct.
When we was Second Lieutenant, he was transfered to the Special Reserve of Officers in February 1918. However, in a followed gas attack in September, he wasn't fit enough to do army duty's.
He survived the war and married in 1941 wit Jean Hazell. When he died, is unknow.
