Wie was Theodor M. Pflaum?
Theodor Milton Pflaum werd geboren in september 1895 te Blumberg, de huidige Birdwood, ten zuiden van Australië. Hij was de zoon van Theodor en Mary Jane Pflaum en broer van Raymond Holstein en Elliot. Theodor was bediende voor hij het leger in ging.
De 19 jarige lijfde zichzelf in op 16 juli 1915 te Keswick en werd toegewezen tot de 32nd Battalion.
Theodor en zijn broer Raymond vertrokken met de Geelong op 18 november 1915 vanuit Adelaide naar Suez in Egypte. Ze arriveerden op 16 december hun eindbestemming. Op 9 maart 1916 werd hij overgeplaatst naar de 8th Machine Gun Company en op 1 juni werd hij gepromoveerd tot Corporal. Op 16 juni vertrok hij aan bood van de Tunisian vanuit Alexander richting Marseilles in Frankrijk, waar hij op de 23st aankwam.
Hij werd gepromoveerd tot Sergeant op 1 september.
Op 10 februari 1917 werd hij opnieuw overgeplaatst en deze keer naar de 25th Machine Gun Company en werd gepromoveerd tot Second Lieutenant.
Op 24 september 1917, nam hij deel aan de Slag om Passchendaele. Tijdens de Slag om de Meenseweg werd hij gewond door een schrapnel.
Hij werd overgeplaatst naar het N.10 Casualty Clearing Station te Lijssenthoek nabij Poperinge waar hij op 24th September 1917 stierf. Hij ligt begraven op het Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery op Plot XXV in rij F onder graf 2.
Zijn broer Elliot overleefde de oorlog. Zijn broer Richard stierf als POW (Prisinor of War) op 19 Juli 1916. Hij werd vermist. Tot uiteindelijk een massagraf werd ontdekt enkele jaren geleden bij Fromelles aan de Somme in Frankrijk. Meer dan 120 lichamen werd geïdentificeerd waarvan ook Richard's lichaam. Hij werd begraven op het Fromelles (Pheasant Wood) Military Cemetery op plot 1, in rij b onder graf 11.

Theodor Milton Pflaum was born in September 1895 at Blumberg, the current Birdwood, south of Australia. He was the son of Theodor and Mary Jane Pflaum and brother of Raymond Holstein and Elliot. Theodor was clerke before he went into the army.
The 19 year old boy enlisted himself on July 16, 1915 at Keswick and was assigned to the 32nd Battalion.
Theodor and his brother Raymond embarked with the Geelong on November 18, 1915 from Adelaide to Suez in Egypt. They arrived on 16 December. On March 9, 1916 he was transferred to the 8th Machine Gun Company and on 1 June he was promoted to Corporal. On June 16, he embarked with the Tunisian from Alexander to Marseilles in France, where he arrived on the 23st. He was promoted to Sergeant on September 1.
On February 10, 1917 he was transferred again and this time to the 25th Machine Gun Company and was promoted to Second Lieutenant.
On September 24, 1917, he participated in the Battle of Passchendaele. During the Battle of the Menin Road, he was wounded by shrapnel.
He was transferred to the N.10 Casualty Clearing Station on Lijssenthoek near Poperinge; where he died on 24th September 1917. He is buried on the Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery at Plot XXV in row F under grave 2.
His brother Elliot survived the war. His brother Richard died as a POW (Prisinor of War) on 19 July 1916. He was missing. Until finally a mass grave was found several years ago at Fromelles in the Somme in France. More than 120 bodies were identified which also Richard's body. He was buried at the Fromelles (Pheasant Wood) Military Cemetery at plot 1, row b in grave under 11.
